Israel Faces Pressure to End Occupation Amid New Wave of Attacks on Gaza

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in a series of Israeli attacks on the Nuseirat refugee camp and other locations in Gaza from Friday evening through Saturday morning, according to reports. The international community has reacted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling, which declares Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land a violation of international law and demands its end. In Nablus, an ongoing Israeli raid has led to the detention of at least two Palestinians, with such military raids having more than tripled in frequency over the past nine months.

Escalations in attacks by illegal Israeli settlers have also been reported. On the day of the ICJ ruling, settlers targeted Palestinians in Huwara, Nablus, setting fire to businesses and fields. In the South Hebron Hills, a group of settlers attacked a family, severely beating a woman who is now receiving hospital treatment. Israeli soldiers were present during these attacks, protecting the settlers and preventing Palestinians from defending themselves—a situation highlighted by the ICJ judges.

Additionally, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported minor damage to a vessel after it was targeted in two attacks in the Red Sea, 64 nautical miles northwest of al-Makha (Mocha) in Yemen. Both the vessel and crew are safe. Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who have been targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea in support of Hamas and in opposition to Israel’s Gaza war, have concentrated their attacks in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

The Israeli military has also carried out an air strike on Hula in southern Lebanon, claiming it hit “military buildings” belonging to Hezbollah. The military later stated that it intercepted a “suspicious aerial target” in Lebanese airspace, which did not cross into Israel. Hezbollah has reported targeting an Israeli soldier gathering in northern Israel with artillery shells, achieving a direct hit. Earlier, the Israeli attack on the Abu Jasser family home in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza resulted in the deaths of journalist Muhammad Jasser, his wife, and two children. This attack followed another air strike that killed five people in Gaza City and four more in a separate strike.
