Djokovic arrives in Serbia, seems to be in headache still as French open declaring jab mandatory

Djokovic arrived in Serbia on January 17, 2022, after an 11-day trip down the drama of two visa cancellations and court challenges. Supporters chanted “Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic”, and waved the Serbian flag.

A building in Belgrade welcomed him on his arrival by illuminating with the words “Nole, you are the pride of Serbia.” Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic also supporting their top tennis player said it to be “scandalous” and added,
“I look forward to seeing Djokovic in his own country, in Serbia, and to go through this together with him and give him our support in this difficult time for him”.


On the other hand, Serbian’s unvaccinated status seems to cause more headaches in the future as French Open organizers had announced the covid-19 jab a mandate for the approaching grand slam. A spokesman from France’s Ministry of Sport had declared on Monday that no exemptions will be given to unvaccinated players at the tournament to be held in May.
