TikTok at first increased the time limit from 1-minute to 3 minutes last July. By extending the time permitted per video on TikTok, the brand desires to see considerably greater commitment from its users which ultimately may bring about higher promotion incomes.

Some users received the news as a notice within the app, according to social media consultant and analyst Matt Navarra on Twitter.

Some specific users were at that point ready to upload 5-minute recordings on TikTok, however, with its recent update, everybody will be able to post longer videos.

While this change might draw in more potential users and increment generally speaking commitment, it is not yet clear whether longer videos will function admirably with TikTok’s ‘For You’ algorithm.

Addressing, Social Media Consultant and Industry Analyst Matt Navarra says that videos having longer lengths is for the most part simpler to adapt and keep users drawn in for longer. Navarra discloses that TikTok needs to sort out how it should fit longer videos onto its platform. “They could do with a dedicated home for longer-form content as [it] doesn’t sit so well in the vertical feed with shorter stuff people are used to whizzing through at speed,”.
