Meta is testing a dedicated Instagram feed for posts from verified users

Instagram is trying out something new. They’re testing a feature that will show only Meta Verified and legacy-verified users’ posts. This feature will be a switch under the “Following” and “Favorites” options when you tap on Instagram’s logo in the app.

Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s Head, announced this on his Instagram broadcast channel. He mentioned that they are testing this to let people explore their Instagram feed and reels with just Meta Verified accounts. It’s also a way for businesses and creators to get noticed.

This announcement comes after Instagram denied such testing two months ago. But a code found by a reverse engineer, Alessandro Paluzzi, in both iOS and Android Instagram apps, revealed this new feed filter for Meta Verified subscribers.

Instagram’s aim is clear – to boost Meta Verified subscriptions. These subscriptions cost $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 per month on mobile.

Subscribers get a blue checkmark, better customer support, increased visibility in search and comments, and exclusive stickers.

Instagram seems to be taking inspiration from Elon Musk’s Twitter, which introduced paid verification for $8 per month through its X Premium subscription service.

This new Instagram feature is creating quite a buzz in the tech world. It shows that verified content is becoming more valuable and there’s a demand for exclusive content.

Experts think other social networks might follow suit. Instagram’s move could change how social media works, with a focus on high-quality content and user experience.

Now, Instagram users are waiting to see how this feature will change content discovery and engagement on the platform. Will it make people want to get Meta Verified, or will it have mixed reactions?

Instagram needs to strike a balance between promoting Meta Verified content and giving everyone a good user experience. We’ll see if this gamble pays off and changes how we use social media.
