India Wins in Asia Cup 2023, Beats Sri Lanka

Indian pace bowler Mohammed Siraj delivered a stunning performance, taking 6 wickets for 21 runs, leading India to a resounding 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final. Siraj’s remarkable four-wicket over quickly dismantled Sri Lanka’s batting lineup, restricting them to just 50 runs.

In response, Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill easily chased down the target in just 6.1 overs, securing an impressive win ahead of the upcoming one-day international (ODI) World Cup.

Sri Lanka’s dismal total left the disappointed home crowd in a match that lasted only 116 minutes. The hosts batted first due to a rain delay, but pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah claimed an early wicket. Mohammed Siraj then took charge, exploiting favourable conditions to surpass his previous ODI best with six wickets.

Despite Sri Lanka’s low total, they managed to avoid the record for the lowest-ever ODI score. Hardik Pandya also contributed, taking three wickets to wrap up the innings swiftly.

Indian openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, with their aggressive batting, sealed the victory. Gill’s three successive boundaries brought India a comfortable win in the shortest final of the tournament.

India, led by Rohit Sharma, lost only one match in the tournament, while Sri Lanka, despite their previous edition win, struggled in the final.
