Beijing Olympics tickets will not be sold to the general public due to Covid

In reaction to Covid-19, tickets for the forthcoming Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing will not be sold to the general public but will instead be given by officials, according to the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee.

The committee stated We have decided to revise the original plan of public ticket sales in light of the bleak and complicated circumstances of epidemic prevention and control [and] to preserve the health and safety of Olympic employees and spectators.

Throughout the Games, spectator groups will be invited on-site and will be forced to “strictly adhere with Covid-19 prevention and control regulations before, during, and after watching the Games.”

The International Olympic Committee stated in a statement on Monday that those attending would be mainland Chinese citizens who have the appropriate “Covid-19 countermeasures.”

The Winter Olympics in Beijing will begin on February 4th, followed by the Paralympic Winter Games on March 4th.
