Settlement of Kashmir Dispute Essential for True Peace in South Asia: Foreign Office

Pakistan has unequivocally rejected any claims suggesting that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute could be resolved through unilateral actions. In response to recent statements made by India’s Minister for External Affairs, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, characterized these remarks as not only misleading but also dangerously out of touch with the ground realities of the conflict.

Baloch highlighted that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is an internationally recognized issue that cannot be settled unilaterally. She emphasized that any resolution must adhere to the resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and reflect the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. According to her, finding a resolution to this long-standing conflict is crucial for establishing peace and stability in South Asia.

The spokesperson strongly criticized India’s recent unilateral actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, stating that these actions do not change the fundamental realities of the dispute. Baloch reiterated that while Pakistan remains committed to diplomacy and dialogue, it will respond with firm resolve to any hostile actions from India.

Baloch further asserted that true peace and stability in South Asia can only be achieved through a settlement that respects UNSC resolutions and acknowledges the inalienable rights of the Kashmiri people. She called on India to abandon its provocative rhetoric and unfounded claims about Jammu and Kashmir and to instead engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at reaching a fair, peaceful, and lasting resolution to the dispute.
