Test team coach Jason Gillespie has arrived in Lahore after a holiday in Australia, while white-ball coach Gary Kirsten is currently observing local talent in Faisalabad. Both coaches will participate in discussions aimed at addressing the gap between domestic and international cricket, a key hurdle in developing top-tier players.

The camp will focus on modern requirements for domestic cricket and strategies to build future Pakistan teams, emphasizing continuity—a critical issue in Pakistan cricket over the past two years. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to join the second session, where the outcomes of the discussions will be finalized. This strategic session follows consultations Naqvi has held with former cricketers since taking office earlier this year.

The camp will gather nine elite cricketers, including Babar Azam (white-ball captain), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shan Masood (red-ball captain). They will be joined by head coaches Gillespie and Kirsten, assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, and High-Performance specialist David Reid.

The primary aim of the camp is to establish a shared vision and roadmap to restore the pride and excellence that have defined Pakistan cricket since it achieved Test status in 1952. The session will promote collaboration between players and the PCB, reinforcing the board’s commitment to supporting players in achieving strategic goals.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated, “The connection camp is a vital step toward unifying our approach to restoring Pakistan cricket to its former glory. Our goal is to identify key issues, encourage open dialogue, and collectively determine a strategic path forward. By addressing these challenges directly, we will establish clear, actionable goals that meet the expectations of our passionate cricket fans. The PCB remains optimistic that this session, building on prior discussions with former cricketers, will yield a results-driven strategy to enhance player management and team performance.”
