‘No Room for Weakness’: PM Shehbaz Calls for Firm Action After Balochistan Violence

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for unwavering determination in combating terrorism following a series of devastating attacks in Balochistan that resulted in at least 50 deaths, including 14 security personnel.

On Sunday night, militants affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched coordinated assaults across Balochistan. Their attacks targeted both security forces and civilians, with a particular focus on those from Punjab. The violence included assaults on police stations, the destruction of railway tracks, and the burning of approximately 30 vehicles.

In a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz called for the identification of the nation’s adversaries and stressed the necessity for national unity. He declared, “We must proceed with a resolute decision. There is no room for any weakness.”

In Musakhail, near the Punjab border, militants killed 23 people after verifying their identities. In Khadkocha, attackers blocked a highway, stormed a local police station, and took Levies officials hostage for several hours before escaping. They set the police station on fire during their departure.

In Kalat, militants targeted a Levies station, two hotels, and the home of a tribal elder. The violence led to the deaths of 11 individuals, including four Levies officials and a police sub-inspector, with nine others injured, including Kalat Assistant Commissioner Aftab Lasi.

In Bolan’s Kolpur area, six bodies were discovered, believed to have been killed by militants.

The military reported that security forces neutralized 21 militants in subsequent operations. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi vowed to eradicate terrorism in the province. PM Shehbaz underscored that no amount of condemnation can suffice for the recent attacks in Balochistan.
