By Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has declared his government’s intent to challenge a Supreme Court verdict regarding the trial of civilians in military courts.
Speaking on a TV program, Kakar emphasized that the government believes in its authority to amend laws through Parliament.
Kakar, in his role as the interim PM, expressed his concerns about media-related issues and the well-being of working journalists. He highlighted the need for clear regulations in this sector and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing these concerns while maintaining a focus on them.
Furthermore, Kakar drew attention to the significant movement of people across the Torkham and Chaman borders, citing this as an indicator of the government’s seriousness.
He stated that action will be taken against those lacking proper documentation, including exploring the option of DNA testing in collaboration with Nadra to verify individuals’ status.
The interim premier also made it clear that the government is not seeking to sever ties with Afghanistan. Kakar expressed the desire for individuals from their side to return and urged Afghanistan to address the status of those residing illegally.
He emphasized the existence of legal processes and the necessity for people to adhere to them.
Kakar acknowledged the challenges faced by the PTI, particularly after May 9. He stressed that Imran Khan was not elected to be in conflict with state institutions, and the PTI’s future would be determined by legal proceedings.
Responding to a question, Kakar stated that there was no evidence suggesting the army or intelligence agencies’ involvement in the formation of the BAP party. He clarified that there was no proof of institutional interference in elections.
The separation from PML-N in Balochistan was partially due to concerns about a minority member’s appointment as the chief minister. Kakar mentioned perceptions regarding the PPP’s election strategies.
