FIA Detains Two Passengers with Fake Visas at Karachi Airport

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration unit has reported the arrest of two passengers at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport for carrying fraudulent travel documents. The suspects, Shamsuddin from Attock and Muhammad Yaqub from Rajanpur were detained during routine immigration checks when authorities discovered that their passports contained fake Iraqi visas.

According to the FIA, both individuals had paid over Rs 300,000 each to agents for these counterfeit documents. The arrests are part of a concerted effort by the FIA to crack down on illegal travel practices and curb the use of forged documents. The agency is continuing its investigation to uncover more details about the network involved in producing and distributing fake travel documents.

In a related development last month, the FIA Immigration unit made another significant arrest. Sajid Mahmood, a human trafficker implicated in a smuggling operation based in Gujarat, was apprehended at Jinnah International Airport. Mahmood, who was attempting to flee to Azerbaijan, was intercepted by Interpol after being removed from his flight. The arrest came as part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking networks operating out of the airport.

The FIA’s recent actions reflect its commitment to combating illegal travel and trafficking, demonstrating the agency’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and integrity at one of Pakistan’s busiest airports. Both cases highlight the challenges faced in managing international travel and underscore the importance of continued vigilance and enforcement to prevent illegal activities.
