Chief Minister Faces Criticism in Provincial Assembly

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has faced criticism for his remarks made at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Islamabad on September 8. Various political figures have condemned his choice of words, which were directed at women, political leaders, the media, and the establishment.

K-P Assembly Opposition Leader Dr. Abdullah Khan was among the first to respond, condemning Gandapur’s speech and expressing concerns about the PTI-led provincial government’s diminishing authority. Khan criticized the chief minister for failing to address pressing issues, such as ongoing police protests in Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Bajaur, and for not presenting new projects or effective governance solutions.

Khan also expressed disappointment over the government’s approach, including Gandapur’s controversial offer to negotiate with the Taliban, which he condemned as unacceptable. He questioned why PTI leaders were not more proactive in addressing governance issues and argued that politics in K-P had become focused solely on Imran Khan, rather than on meaningful progress.

Further, Khan accused some PTI members of undermining Imran Khan’s political career and emphasized the need for all political parties to prioritize the province’s needs over personal interests. He warned that if the law-and-order situation does not improve, it could lead to increased public dissatisfaction.

Similarly, ANP Provincial Assembly Member Mohammad Nisar highlighted the ongoing protests and demanded explanations from the provincial government about the escalating violence and police unrest in various regions. He called for a more focused discussion on law and order within the assembly to address the critical issues facing the province.
