90% of Housing Societies in KP Declared Illegal

The Local Government Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has released a report indicating that a staggering 90 percent of housing societies in the province are either illegal or unregistered. According to the findings, 60 percent of these societies are deemed illegal, while 30 percent remain unregistered, leaving only 80 legally recognized housing societies.

The report states that there are currently 822 housing societies operating across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The distribution is as follows: 254 in Dera Ismail Khan Division, 247 in Peshawar Division, 77 in Malakand, 74 in Hazara, 73 in Bannu, 67 in Mardan, and just 30 in Kohat Division. Of these, 495 are identified as illegal, with an additional 247 unregistered.

To protect the public, the Local Government Department has published a list of the illegal and unregistered societies on its website, urging caution for anyone considering investment in these areas.
