WhatsApp Introduces Multi-Account Feature to Beta Testers

WhatsApp, the social messaging platform owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature that enhances user convenience by allowing them to manage multiple accounts without switching devices. The latest addition to the messaging application is a multi-account system, enabling users to log into multiple accounts simultaneously, according to WABetaInfo.

Earlier, in June, the Meta-owned platform introduced the capability to send high-quality videos on Android beta. However, while this feature maintains video dimensions, there is still some minor compression applied, preventing the sending of videos in their original quality.

The account-switching feature has been in development since it was first reported in June of this year for WhatsApp Business beta. Now, after updating to version 2.23.17.8 on the Google Play Store, beta testers can finally access this feature.

Beta users now have the ability to add additional accounts within the app, as per reports from WABetaInfo. To add a new account, users simply need to click on the arrow icon next to the QR code button. Likewise, the same menu allows users to switch between accounts, streamlining their experience and enabling them to manage private chats, work conversations, and other chats within a single application.

This feature is particularly useful as it allows users to switch between accounts without the need for multiple devices or additional applications, maintaining separate chats and notifications for each account. Recently, WhatsApp also introduced new safety tools on Android beta to manage messages from unknown phone numbers.

In another update, the platform rolled out a ‘link with phone number’ feature on Android beta, allowing users to link their accounts to WhatsApp Web using their phone numbers. Additionally, the platform has been reportedly working on a new passkey feature for Android beta that adds an extra layer of account verification.

This feature ensures that all chats, be they private conversations or professional exchanges, can be managed in one place. The separation of conversations and notifications, along with the ease of switching between accounts, sets the stage for a more seamless experience for WhatsApp users. The update also simplifies the process of using multiple accounts on the same device, eliminating the need for separate setups for each account.
