Twitter is rolling out verified NFT profile pictures

NFTs-Non-Fungible Tokens- are one of a kind of digital assets, that can be traded on the blockchain. And Twitter on Thursday 20 January 2022 started to rollout a feature to let some users set NFTs, they own, on their profile pictures. This will let Twitter users invest in this emerging digital art space.

The move and initiative make Twitter one of the best-known Technology platforms launching features for the glitzy NFT Trend. Previously, anyone was able to right-click on an image and copy it which left no proof of ownership without tunneling into the Ethereum blockchain to check it.

The feature was rolled out on Jan 20 and is only accessible to paid subscribers of Twitter’s Blue service. Official NFTs users will be emphasized by a hexagonal border instead of the old-style circular border used for profile pictures. This move symbolizes the major push by the firm into the NFT world. Twitter which has been a micro-blogging and social media platform, now has also landed in the crypto industry.

However, there are still many ways for cunning hackers to copy the image, mint an NFT of it with a blockchain address, and thus able to upload it to their profiles. So, Twitter still has to approve the authenticity of its new feature and how it aims to fight any digital burglary that may happen.
