Submarine cable damage affects internet speed across Pakistan

A cable cut in the submarine cable framework is causing internet disruption across the nation reported on Tuesday.

According to the details, the shortcoming happened in the TransWorld 1 (TW1) cable at a distance of just about 400 km off the coast of Pakistan. The TW1 cable framework spans 1,300 km connecting Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

“Internet services could cause disturbance across Pakistan due to a cut revealed in TransWorld 1 (TW1) submarine cable framework,” the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said in a proclamation.

The PTA said, “A cable cut has been accounted for in TransWorld (TW1) submarine cable framework at around 6 PM on Monday, this shortcoming has caused a blackout of international data transmission and may bring about the debasement of internet services for clients of TransWorld bandwidth.”

“The consortium is arranging Adhoc transmission capacity to limit the effect. Endeavours are proceeding to find out the specific area of the issue and expected reclamation time,” it added.
