PPP Chairman Bilawal refuses to accept Gillani’s resignation

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has refused to acknowledge the resignation of Yousaf Raza Gillani as the Opposition Leader in the Senate.

PPP chairman acknowledged Gillani as a “brilliant illustration” for the liberals and said that the agents of PPP consider themselves responsible.

Bilawal supported Gillani’s statement on the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) amendment bill, which was passed by the Upper House, following a connection between the central government and the Senate director.

Prior, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) pioneer Yousuf Raza Gilani declared that he has submitted his resignation as the opposition leader in the Senate to his party authority.
Talking in the Upper House of Parliament, the previous head of the state slammed Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani for casting a vote for the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill, 2021.

“It happened for the first time in the country’s history that the Senate chairman voted [in the government’s favour]. You are the custodian of the house and not the government. You should be impartial,” he continued.
“I would rather not fill in as the opposition leader any longer and have submitted my resignation to the party,” the PPP chief said.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill regarded this move as a “political carnival” in a tweet.

Attacking the PPP administrator, he said that Gillani didn’t partake in the democratic at Bilawal’s request,” adding that, “the bill was passed with your assistance, so you will dismiss his renunciation”.

The Senate had passed the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill on Friday with a minor majority.

The opposition leaders had sent off criticism against Yousaf Raza Gillani for his absence from the crucial Senate meeting.
