PM Modi: India-Saudi Partnership Crucial for Global Stability

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of the partnership between India and Saudi Arabia during a meeting on Monday. He highlighted that this partnership plays a crucial role in ensuring stability and prosperity, not just in the region but also globally.

During the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council meeting, PM Modi expressed that they are evolving their relationship to align with the changing times. He underlined the immense importance of Saudi Arabia as one of India’s key strategic allies.

PM Modi and Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, held discussions at Hyderabad House and identified several initiatives to strengthen their already close partnership. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the Crown Prince for his support during the G20 Summit.

The Crown Prince’s visit to India, which followed the G20 Summit, marked a three-day stay in Delhi. Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated that the historical relationship between India and Saudi Arabia has always been marked by cooperation, with a focus on building a prosperous future and creating opportunities.

The visit began with a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by a meeting with PM Modi. The Crown Prince congratulated India on its successful hosting of the G20 Summit.

After concluding his engagements with PM Modi and other dignitaries, Prince Salman met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan before departing from New Delhi. This visit was the second state visit by Prince Salman to India.

India and Saudi Arabia share a long history of friendly and collaborative relations, with strong people-to-people connections. Their bilateral trade reached a record high of USD 52.75 billion in the fiscal year 2022-23, and both nations are important trading partners for each other. India is Saudi Arabia’s second-largest trading partner, and Saudi Arabia is India’s fourth-largest. Additionally, the two countries have a robust partnership in the energy sector, with India importing a significant amount of oil from Saudi Arabia.
