Google Introduces Voice Notes for Messaging on Wear OS

Google has some exciting news for smartwatch users. They’ve just announced a cool feature for their Google Messages app on Wear OS. Now, you can send voice messages directly from your smartwatch, like the Pixel Watch or Galaxy Watch, without needing your smartphone.

Although Google hasn’t shown us what the voice messaging interface will look like, they promise it’s coming in the next few weeks. We might see a new button for recording voice messages, right alongside the emoji and keyboard options.

However, there’s a small catch. You won’t be able to listen to these voice messages on your smartwatch. You’ll still need to use your phone to hear the messages you send or receive. To send a voice message through the Google Messages app on your Wear OS device, just tap the microphone icon in a message, and you’ll find the option to record a voice message or use the voice-to-text feature.

This update is great news for anyone who wants to stay connected without the hassle of pulling out their phone. While most messaging apps already support voice messaging, having it on Wear OS makes things even more convenient. Keep in mind that you’ll still need your phone to listen to the voice messages.

Google is rolling out this change to the Messages app, and it should be available to everyone in a few weeks. This comes right after WhatsApp introduced voice messaging support for Wear OS. Plus, you can do a lot more with your smartwatch using Google Assistant, which is getting some new features later this year.

Google is also expanding this feature to more regions soon, so more people can enjoy sending voice messages from their Wear OS smartwatches. It seems like they’re keeping pace with WhatsApp, which just added a dedicated voice memo feature for Wear OS.
