Five Rail Workers Killed in Speeding Train Accident in Italy, Reports

A tragic incident occurred in northern Italy when a train struck and killed five workers, leaving two others injured on the railway tracks in the Turin area. The accident unfolded around midnight in the municipality of Brandizzo, which is part of Turin’s metropolitan region.

Reports indicate that these workers were employed by a company tasked with replacing segments of the train line that links the major cities of Turin and Milan. They were working when a locomotive, transporting empty carriages from Alessandria to Turin, tragically ran over them.

The impact dragged the workers for some distance before the train finally came to a stop. Thankfully, two of their colleagues who were working nearby managed to escape unharmed.

This incident is an immense tragedy, and there is a possibility that a communication error may have been a contributing factor. The train driver, though understandably shaken, emerged physically unscathed.

RFI, the company responsible for managing Italy’s rail network, has confirmed the devastating loss of five lives and has initiated an investigation into the matter. The company expressed deep sorrow for the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased workers.
