Bilawal Urges Former Allies Not to Avoid Polls

In his ongoing effort to oppose the potential delay of the general elections, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party), has called on former coalition partners not to avoid participating in the polls. He cautioned them that if any party chose not to partake in the elections, another would step in to take their place.

Bilawal made these remarks during the inauguration of a water filtration plant in Hussainabad, Hyderabad. While he did not explicitly mention the PML-N or any other party from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), he emphasized that avoiding the elections would result in political downfall. He quoted a saying, “Jo darr gaya, who mar gaya” (He who fears, perishes).

He pointed out that some former allies had previously tried to evade by-elections and local government polls and now seemed to be considering avoiding the general elections. Bilawal stated that if any of his allies chose to do so, it was their decision, but the public would recognize that when one party withdrew, another would step in to take its place.

Bilawal reaffirmed his commitment to carrying on his family’s legacy of serving the people of Pakistan, acknowledging the enduring bond between Hyderabad and his family’s dedication to public service. He paid tribute to his late mother, Benazir Bhutto, and his grandfather, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, for their invaluable contributions to the nation.

Bilawal also restated his party’s dedication to the well-being of the people and took the opportunity to criticize the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) government, especially regarding their treatment of the former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman. He stressed the importance of equal access to healthcare for all citizens and expressed concerns about the alleged negligence of the MQM-P (Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan) in addressing Karachi’s water crisis.

He pointed out that despite decades of water scarcity in Sindh, various governments had proposed numerous projects. He acknowledged his family’s efforts in initiating water projects in the region and credited the PPP for making progress in tackling the water crisis in Hyderabad.

Bilawal assured his supporters that the PPP would continue working tirelessly for the welfare of the people and would seek to foster unity among opposition parties in the upcoming elections.

He asserted that the PPP would not allow the PTI Chairman any political space throughout the entire country, stating that the PTI leader would not be able to win elections.

He mentioned that if PPP’s allies were avoiding elections, they should go ahead, as polls would determine the country’s future, and no party should shy away from participating.

He highlighted that only the PPP had successfully completed development work in the city, while accusing the MQM-P of not doing enough for Hyderabad. Bilawal also listed the PPP’s achievements and development projects from the past and pledged to deliver further development projects for the masses if the PPP wins in the upcoming elections.

He vowed to defeat the PTI in other parts of the country, similar to how his party had triumphed over them in the local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.

He promised PPP supporters that he would “eliminate” the PTI because it had been engaged in the politics of “hatred and division.”

Additionally, he claimed that the PTI had attempted to create divisions between institutions and the people of Pakistan and alleged their involvement in the attacks on the GHQ in Rawalpindi and the Jinnah House in Lahore on May 9.
