EU Allocates Additional 1 Million Euros to Aid Flood-Affected Regions in Pakistan

The European Union is stepping up its efforts to help people affected by recent floods in Pakistan. They’ve just pledged an extra one million euros in humanitarian aid to assist around 900,000 individuals who’ve been impacted by the floods in the past few weeks.

This new funding is in addition to the 16.5 million euros that the EU had already provided earlier this year to help the most vulnerable people affected by both conflicts and climate-related disasters in Pakistan.

The EU also pointed out that approximately 0.9 million people in Pakistan have been affected by the recent floods across the country.

Janez Lenarčič, the Commissioner for Crisis Management, expressed his commitment to aiding those most in need, especially in light of the climate changes that have been hitting Pakistan hard. He mentioned the devastating floods from a year ago and stated that the EU is still dedicated to assisting those who are suffering. With the new rainy season causing more displacement in some parts of the country, this additional funding will support vulnerable communities as they try to rebuild their lives.

The funds will be used to provide a range of humanitarian assistance to those who are still displaced and those who have returned home but face challenges due to damage to their houses and essential services like water, sanitation, and health. As winter approaches, the focus will be on providing multipurpose cash assistance, shelter, and non-food items to those in need.

To emphasize, this new funding is separate from the 16.5 million euros previously allocated for humanitarian aid to Pakistan this year, all aimed at helping the most vulnerable populations affected by conflicts and climate-related disasters. The EU is committed to assisting Pakistan in these difficult times.
