Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Expected to Visit Pakistan in September

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is scheduled to visit Pakistan on September 10 for a short stay. He plans to be in the country for approximately six hours before continuing his journey to India for an official state visit.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia appointed Prince Mohammed as the country’s prime minister and Prince Khalid as the defense minister in September 2022. Since assuming power in 2017, Prince Mohammed has spearheaded significant changes in Saudi Arabia. He has worked to reduce the nation’s reliance on oil, granted women the right to drive, and curtailed the influence of clerics in society.

In April, former Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Saudi prime minister at the Royal Palace during his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia. Upon his arrival at the palace, the crown prince warmly received the former Pakistani premier and honored him with a guard of honor.

During his upcoming visit to Pakistan, Prince Mohammed will have discussions with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Additionally, he is expected to meet with Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir. These meetings will focus on enhancing relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as well as strengthening defense ties. Joint military exercises will also be on the agenda, along with deliberations on the possibility of Saudi Arabia establishing an oil refinery in Pakistan.
