Russia and Iran put on a show of unity against the U.S.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iran’s new leader, Ebrahim Raisi, at the Kremlin, at a time when both the nations, notwithstanding their differences, are at odds with the United States.

President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran told his Russian colleague sitting across an extended desk from President Vladimir Putin at a COVID-conscious distance, Tehran has been “resisting America for 40 years.”

In televised remarks, Raisi told Putin that now that Russia was deepening its battle with the US, it was essential to combat “the force of the Americans with more synergy between our two nations.”
