By Imran Khan, the founding chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has formally requested an expedited hearing from the Supreme Court regarding his appeal in a disqualification case. The application, filed through Barrister Ali Zafar, argues that there is an ongoing attempt to exclude Khan from political involvement.
The plea details that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified Khan from his Mianwali seat following a reference from the National Assembly speaker. This disqualification, according to the application, has effectively barred Khan from participating in upcoming elections. The application stresses the need for a swift judicial review to address the impact of this decision on Khan’s political career and ensure that his rights to participate in the electoral process are preserved.
